A Comprehensive Investigation on Abnormal Impoundment of Reservoirs—A Case Study of Qionglin Reservoir in Kinmen Island

Leakage is the most serious problem in reservoir operation, because heavy leakage influences impoundment efficiency and even leads to a complete loss of functions. Since its completion 1982, Qionglin Reservoir has never been fully filled with water except spring 1983 when there was rain. The management unit suspected that side slopes, bottom or dam might leak carried out number prevention improvement works, but all them failed fulfill function reservoir. Hence, this study attempts find reasons why cannot impound water. A series tests investigations are study, including electrical resistivity tomography dam, tracer test, geological drilling level observation, investigation catchment area field dam. test results show no path found.
